Yesterday I painted a few aerosol paintings at the brand new Spearwood skate park. Fellow Ten K home boy Ferly hit us up for this opportunity, he pulled together some awesome artists (and solid dudes) such as Shrink, Teyak and Prez.
We head out there at 8:30, I had fuck all sleep and was pretty scattered all day after a night out before. Heaps of kids were at the park and some of them kept trying to get away with riding bikes and scooters over parts we were trying to paint and some of them were keen on having a spray, not really making any art, or even tagging, just simply spraying the can.
We aimed to cover as much ground as possible so I smashed out 3 illustrative paintings, by the end of the day I was so fumed, tired and dehydrated but it was a sweet day with some legendary crew.
Ferly started painting a dragon, so I guessed the theme was scaly shit.. So I painted an alligator head. It's one of those go to characters to smash out and they are fun to paint. I like to give them janky teeth and try and get the eye to really pop out of the wall. I was really digging the colours we had to work with.
I finished the alligator pretty quick so I got started on another piece which was based off of a sketch i have done. Some of the boyz down there were saying the character looked like the stocks:
Is never thought of that, I just drew some
Shit that looked cool for this. it's always interesting how people interpret images and I probably subconsciously designed the character with this in mind but wasn't aware of it.. Or maybe not..
Another painting I did was some atrocious lettering for the park, which you will never see unless you go there. It was an impromptu collab with a scooter rat who could barely muster the finger strength to make the can spray.
Here are some snaps of other painters pieces:
